Shoalhaven Basketball Association invites you to participate in the 2026 South Coast Preseason Tip-Off! A development-focused day aimed at referee education, whilst providing valuable preseason court time for players, and offering scoretable training for families. 

Note: The SBA office is closed from the 9 Dec - 4 Jan. If any referees would like to join or need to make changes to your particpation during this time please register and then contact SBA's RDO Greg Davids on 0402 225 588.

REFEREE INFORMATION

The referee clinic will be from 9 am to 11 am, delivered by Greg Davids, John Martin, and other experienced officials. It is a practical, on-court development session designed to elevate Green Shirt and newly striped officials, followed by real game refereeing with Mentor support to put the skills learnt into practice. 

In addition representative referees are invited to attend and referee U16 and U18 Games and Referee mentors are welcome to attend at no cost to observe or support on-court activities.

Clinic attendees should wear appropriate running attire and bring their whistle, as well as their Green Shirt or stripes for the games that follow.

The session focuses on building confidence and strengthening core officiating skills, including:

• 2PO mechanics

• Identifying IOTs

• Court presence & game control

• Decision making

• Technical & unsportsmanlike fouls

• Effective pre-, post- and in-game communication

• Teamwork and collaboration

• Interacting professionally with coaches, players and spectators

• Open Q&A and scenario walkthroughs

This session is ideal for officials who have completed the Community Course and have some domestic experience as a Green Shirt. Newly striped referees will also benefit from refining their mechanics and game management.

Cost/Pay:

• Referee Clinic: SBA Green Shirts & newly striped referees: FREE

• Referee Clinic: Non-SBA Green Shirts & newly striped referees: $5

• Representative referees are invited to referee U16 & U18 matches. Pay is $20 per game

• 3PO will operate where possible, with the standard $40 referee pay split between the 3 officials

This clinic offers a valuable opportunity to strengthen officiating fundamentals, ask questions, and apply learning in real-game situations.

SCORE TABLE INFORMATION

We are offering a scoretable practice opportunity, ideal for parents new to basketball or preparing for the representative season.

• We are running a score table session from 9 am - 10am with an optional Shot Clock component at the end.

• Parents will be then be able to complete score table for the games and put what they learnt into practice.

• This will be supported by some of our qualified score table officials

• Shot clock will be in operation during games for relevant age groups
